• An individual who accepts responsibility, is committed and respectful of the supervisor-supervisee relationship, is organized, has effective time management skills, and is willing to ask questions.

• An individual who is dedicated to the counseling profession and is willing to advance their skills by attending continuing education opportunities.

• An individual who is flexible and open to feedback, guidance, and collaboratively setting goals toward professional growth.

• Masters or Ph.D. in counseling or psychology and completed all coursework and practicum as required by Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. (www.bhec.texas.gov/texas-state-board-of-examiners-of-professional-counselors/index.html)

• Passed the National Counseling Exam (NCE).

• Successful completion of the Texas Jurisprudence Exam

• Interview potential supervisors. Complete a supervision contract form which both parties must sign.

• Obtain insurance. There are several options available such as CPH and HPSO.

• Apply for LPC Licensure (also known as the temporary license). All LPC Associate documents are to be sent to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. Your application process may take up to six weeks to be processed.

• An Associate must obtain 3,000 total clock hours while under supervision, 1500 hours must be direct client contact during a minimum of 18 months.

• Maintain accurate records of logged hours, supervised hours, and supervision notes.​

LPC supervision includes individual weekly sessions held virtually for one hour. You will receive feedback and guidance on counseling techniques, diagnosis, assessments, ethics, and application of theories. We will also review case notes, documentation, and treatment plans. Group supervision is available when possible, and phone consultations can be arranged between sessions if needed.

Tasha is owner of Willow Creek Counseling and may provide hours. However, the availability of obtaining hours at Willow Creek Counseling will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Therefore, the determination of this option will depend on many factors including Willow Creek Counseling’s capacity for counselors as well as the needs of the intern. Tasha can also assist you in finding a service location that suits your needs.

• Make sure you are in your final semester/term of your graduate study, have completed your licensure exam and have started to compile the required paperwork for applying for your LPC-Associate license.

• Once received, I will review your materials, and if it appears that your desires align with what I can offer as a supervisor, we will set up a virtual or in person meeting . Think of this meeting as an interview of sorts. In the interview, we would discuss your goals, experiences in school and the world of work, my qualifications and supervision style, expectations of the supervision experience, and other aspects of the process of interest to you that will help you gather whether the fit is correct.

• If the two of us agree that we’d like to work together, we will complete the required forms and agreements and schedule an initial supervisory session.​
